Our dogs love the GoDogGo!

August 6, 2009
Ferrari and Sonic next to the GO DOG GO!

Ferrari and Sonic next to the GO DOG GO!

All of us needed some fun after picking up our props, fencing, and equipment the day after the North Dakota State Fair ended. The fairgrounds was already pretty deserted and we had a couple days to relax before heading to Metra Park in Billing, MT. We decided it was time to bust out the ball launching machine called the “GO DOG GO!”.  I acquired it for my dogs back in 2002.

My dogs have always loved it! However, it has been awhile since they’ve had a chance to play GODOGGO, as it has been in storage. However, since I moved to my new two acre ranch in California I’ve slowly been trying to unpack my things. I found the “GO DOG GO!” about a week before leaving for my summer tour. So I decided to take it along with me. I thought it would be fun to let the dogs play with it again and let some of the new dogs experience it.

On Sunday, the rain finally stopped and the sun came out. So we headed out for some ball action chaos. The dogs had so much fun chasing balls in the middle of the fairgrounds in Minot, ND.  It was a perfect day to let them give it a go. Sonic was the only one brave enough… ummm or dense enough (haha!) to stand directly in front of the ball launcher on a couple occasions. She didn’t seem to care. I think she was trying to block the balls so the other dogs couldn’t get them. Sonic was also the only one that quickly picked up on the concept of dropping the ball back into the reservoir to reload it. She was a “GO DOG GO!” natural.

The best pop-fly catcher was definitely Ivy; Usmans dog. The rest of the pack pretty much waited for the balls to hit the ground and bounce, then they would chase them down. Abby was pretty clueless. She participated a few times, but really had more fun watching the other dogs running around like chickens chasing the balls. She preferred to soak up the sun!  After a bit, Usman decided to try it out for himself. Let’s just say, next time we bring out the “GO DOG GO!” we are going to put him in a crate. LOL!

Overall, I give the “GO DOG GO!” a five star rating. It’s a great product and a really cool invention. Just be careful and keep your dogs back a couple feet from the launcher when it is firing the balls into the air. It does have a resistance setting that allows you to adjust how high in the air the balls are launched. You can also change the settings allowing balls to launch every 7 seconds to 15 seconds.

GODOGGO! PRODUCT REVIEW

Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars!

Pros: Fun for dogs of all ages! Great exercise for toy driven dogs. If your dog digs tennis balls they are going to love it. Less slobber on your hands when playing ball with your dog. It is perfect for a nice sunny day when you feel like being lazy, but still need to get your dog some exercise.

Cons: Must train your dog to stay back and wait for the ball to launch, otherwise they might get frightened by it. Doesn’t shoot the balls fast enough when you have 8 to 10 dogs waiting for a ball on the field. I guess we need a couple more devices to accommodate as many dogs as we are traveling with this summer. 😉

North Dakota State Fair rocks harder this year!

August 2, 2009

Samantha Valle and Super Freak (Minot Daily News)

The North Dakota State Fair was our first state fair of the season. We are currently on our 2009 State Fair Tour which runs mid-July through the first week of October. The “Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show” is celebrating 10 years performing the most high energy stunt dog show in the world! We were honored to be invited back to the North Dakota State Fair for 2009. This years state fair production included 13 stunt dogs and three star performers; Chris Perondi (show creator) along with Samantha Valle and Usman Riaz from Long Island, New York. This years addition included four of Samantha’s top dogs along with two new stunt dogs professionally trained by Usman.

It was a pleasure performing for the very enthusiastic crowds in Minot, North Dakota. Everyone we met was so friendly and loved our stunt dogs in action. Jaws dropped when Samantha Valle brought some cool new moves to the fair. Some of the new tricks include dogs walking on their front paws across the field, dogs dancing backwards while circling around their trainer, back flips, dogs limping on cue, reverse chest vaults, body bounces, spinning back stalls, and the new tandem “Trick of the day” which features tandem “paw-stands” by Action Jackson and Rocket Ruiz.

We brought back the crowd favorite “Extreme Canines Triathlon” TM which was invented by Chris Perondi himself. Super Sonic represented the red team once again this year and Dynamite (trained by Samantha Valle) flew through the triathlon at record breaking speeds as she was cheered on by the yellow team. New for this year was team high-jumping!  The two big jumpers rocked it out: Rocket Ruiz vs. Flashy Ferrari. It was “Fur Flying Family Fun” TM for the whole family!

Riverfest Entertainment Recap

July 25, 2009
Abby_IMG_0322

Abby Cline with Petey and Pompey

The annual La Crosse Riverfest was held July 1st through 5th in the beautiful state of Wisconsin. It was my second year providing river fest entertainment in La Crosse. The shows were a blast as we performed for huge crowds all weekend long.  I had the pleasure of bringing in an assistant trainer named Abby Cline this year.  She is from the Fargo, ND area and has been training and competing with her dogs for over two years. Her Australian cattle dogs Petey and Pompey did a tremendous job for their first time performing in the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show. Her flying disc catching pooches flew across the field with their agile abilities. They caught big air and pulled off some awesome flips. Petey tried his paws in my “Extreme Canines Triathlon” throughout the week. It was his first time entering this fast paced racing event. He and Abby did a tremendous job representing the yellow team at Riverfest. They even pulled off a win or two!

Wallace_IMG_0241

Roo Yori and Wallace

On Friday and Saturday I brought in a special guest to be apart of the production. Roo Yori and his national champion Frisbee catching pit bull took the field. You could see the faces of the audience as they couldn’t believe a Pit Bull could be so athletic and talented.  Wallace is no doubt the worlds best Frisbee catching pit bull. It was an honor to have them join us for this years Riverfest! They came from Rochester to join us and are apart of the Minnesota Disc Dog Club.

The fireworks show on Saturday night was spectacular. If you live near the La Crosse, WI area I would highly recommend checking out the annual 4th of July Riverfest next summer. You are guaranteed to have a dog gone great time!

Frisbee Dog Entertainment for the 49ers

June 16, 2009

eIMG_0208The NFL San Francisco 49ers hold an event called “Family Day” annually to kick off the start of the NFL training camp period and the football season.  It was held this year at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on Saturday June 13th. This was the third “Family Fun Day” in which I have provided Frisbee dog entertainment. I started working with the 49ers back in 1999 and have been doing half time shows, pre-game shows, and sidelines entertainment for them on and off ever since.

My first big star was “Extreme Pepper” who ended up being the 49ers canine mascot for the entire 1999 & 2000 seasons. We were invited to every home game during the season and Pepper caught Aerobie TM superdiscs for the sold out stadium crowds. I was excited to bring my dogs back on the field last Saturday. I dug out Peppers original 49ers sequenced dog vest Friday night. My mom custom made it for Pepper back in 1999. The vest boasts the 49er logo on both sides. I was proud to officially hand it down to “Flashy Ferrari” on Saturday for the big day. She wore it proudly, knowing she was wearing the legacy vest of a the 2000 IDC national champion Frisbee dog, “Extreme Pepper”. It fit her perfectly as she flew across the 50 yard line making dept defying catches that left everyone in utter shock!

eIMG_0370

Ferrari had big paws to fill on Saturday as only the best Frisbee dogs of all-time have performed at Candlestick park.  The greats will never be forgotten; Scooter the Wonderdog, Skyy Dog, Cow Dog, and of course my first star Extreme Pepper.  Now at only two and a half years old; Flashy Ferrari takes the riegn as the new superstar. She is one of the most talented disc catching dogs to ever perform at an NFL stadium!

Ferrari was just one of my talented dogs catching Aerobie TM superdiscs on Saturday.  The rest of my team included Soaring Sierra, Air Ripley, Nitro Neo, and Action Jackson. They were all stars and made me extremely proud on Saturday!  Being able to perform with Ripley and Neo at the stadium again was a real treat for me too. Assisting me on the field was my favorite Dad (Lon Perondi).  He handling the dogs and turned the rope with me as Ferrari jumped rope on the 50 yard line. I was able to get some wonderful photographs from the performance thanks to sweetheart Suhey Velez!

Overall, it was a grand day and an honor to be apart of the 49ers family day 2009!

Vote on the name of my new dog

May 26, 2009

Here is your chance to help me name my new dog.  Should I keep his name as “Bentley” and just add “Blazing” to it, or should I change it?  I appreciate all the name suggestions and support.  Everyone came up with some really good ones.  However, the names suggested below are my favorites. Vote now!

What should I call my new dog?

May 19, 2009

051909_IMG_2765

I’d like to introduce my newest team member. This little guy is a two year old border collie who I adopted out of Pleasanton, California.  He came with the name of “Bentley”.  Which is a cool name; but I can’t seem to come up with anything great to run in front of it. I need catchy show name for him like my other dogs on the team (Flashy Ferrari, Acrobatic Abby, Soaring Sierra, etc).

051909_Bently_1024_IMG_2634I’ve been considering changing his name to “Revely” and his show name could be “Racin’ Revely”.  What do you think?

Here is your chance to help me finalize the name of my newest Extreme Canine Stunt Dog. Send me your best names and I’ll put my favorites on the ballet. We will then have an open poll and everyone can vote on which name they like the best!  All name entries must be submitted by this Sunday May 24th. I’ll put the voting poll up on Monday, so check back then to vote!

A place to call home again

May 4, 2009

043009_bright_img_9790I have been contemplating moving out of California for a few years now.  My #1 choice outside of California was Austin, TX.  However, I recently made the decision to stay in the sunny state of California.  I quit my IT job to perform with my dogs full time back in 2000 and since that time I’ve traveled to 47 of the states here in the U.S.  There are so many beautiful places in the country I’d love to live. But after much thought I decided it would be best to stay in California close to my family and friends.

I’ve been living on the road in my 39 foot fifth wheel RV full time for over two years. It was time to finally dock and find land. My new place has two acres and is going to be a perfect training facility for my dogs. They are already loving the new property! The first room I setup in the house was theirs. Yes that is right, the dogs have their own bedroom furnished with doggy beds and toys galore.  Of course, you’ll also find toys and bones scattered throughout the house along with an oversize bean bag set in the middle of the living room in which they call their own.

050409_img_9764My life has been quite hectic this past month which is why I haven’t been able to keep up on the blog. Things should start settling down soon and rest assured I’ll be back posting daily blogs again. I plan to post about adventures on the road, on tour over the summer, training my new dogs, along with offering training tips and sharing my artistic talents of photography, quotes, and more.

Here is a quick recap since my last post on the first of April:

April 3 – Met with a notary just outside Boston, MA and signed the closing documents on my new French Camp/Stockton California property. Yes, finally a home owner again!

April 5 – My last scheduled theater show was a huge success in Keene, NH. I brought in a professional photographer who captured some wonderful photos of us and the dogs. I’ll have some images online soon! We packed up after the show and then me, Sam, and Usman said our “goodbyes for now”.  I then proceeded to get on the road and head west. I got around 100 miles under my belt that night. I wanted to go further, but I was exhausted.

April 6 – I woke up early after staying in a Cracker Barrel parking lot for the night. I drove about 550 miles today…..

April 7 thru 10 – I got serious about getting back to my new home in California. So I got on I-80 and put the petal to the metal. I didn’t have time for much for the next four days as I basically just drove, ate, and slept. On the 8th, I drove over 800 miles breaking my solo record. I was on the road from 8 am till 2 am the next day. Somebody called me a Rockstar! 😉

April 10 – I arrived to my new California property late Friday afternoon. After a long 3,250 mile trek from New Hampshire, I was exhausted.  I felt like I was making my way west like in the gold rush era, without the horses…. and gold of course. lol!

April 11 – 18 – I spent my first week at home running errands, shopping for furniture, and working around the new property. The place was kind of a mess since it was a bank owned foreclosure. It had been empty for quite awhile; probably a year or so.  There were weeds, broken sprinklers, fence to fix and build, a few broken pipes, carpet that needed replacing, and many issues  to tend too. I lived in my RV on the property this first week and didn’t officially move into my new house until Saturday April 18th.

April 19th – I woke up in my own bed in my new house.  That was the stuff! 😉

April 20th to now . . . . The two acre property has two homes on it. It has been planned to have my parents move into the second home. They have lived in the same home for almost 40 years and have been excited to get out of the old neighborhood. I’ve been busy getting them moved on the property along with helping relocate my elderly and sick grandfather. My mom and dad now have the room to be able to offer my grandpa 24 hour care. So we are finally all on the same property and since I have such a close relationship with my parents it’s working out perfectly!  My parents will also now be able to watch my dogs easily every now and then. They will also be able to keep an eye on my property when I’m out of town doing shows. And I’ll be able to help them anytime they need and be there for them as they grow older. The storm I was in has finally passed!

Doggone fun in Boston!

April 1, 2009

040109_img_0749The stunt dogs and I are currently staying at the #7 rated RV park in the world as seen in the Woodals campground directory. Normandy Farms is one of the nicest and friendliest RV parks I’ve ever visited. Downtown Boston is only about 25 miles away and the atmosphere here is wonderful. They are extremely dog friendly and offer a huge sports field where I was able to exercise the dogs. After we finished Frisbee play time we walked down the path to the two and a half acre fenced dog park. My guys enjoyed romping around,  jumping over agility obstacles, and running around the trees.

Normandy Farms also offers an indoor swimming pool and two hot tubs. Then to top it off, the disc enthusiasts will love the 18 hole disc golf course on premises.  No stinking putt-putt mini golf here; this is the big league! I was also impressed by the $31 a night off season rate. Overall, I give the Normandy Farms RV park 5 stars.  I will definitely come back here again someday!

I have few days layover before my next show scheduled in Keene, NH on April 5th. So I’m just going to relax here in the Boston area and enjoy the north east hospitality. I found Petco nearby along with a Ford dealer to take care of my faulty radiator resevour. It appears I’m destined to see a Ford service center in every city I make a layover. The truck has been in the shop six times since January 1st!

Yesterday I took Pepper and Sierra into downtown Boston and we had the opportunity of walking around the city a little bit. The dogs met a few new furry friends along the way as I enjoyed the sights and fresh air.  I hope to visit downtown again tomorrow depending on how things go with my truck. Who should I take with me this time?

Sold out show on Long Island

March 28, 2009

032809_soldout_img_0714I arrived on Long Island on Thursday. The weather has been a little chilly with some light rain. However, I’m having a great time. I was able to hang out with some old friends who I met back in 2002 while performing at the Long Island Wildlife Park. For the past couple days I made my layover at the beach campground at Smith Point. There were deer running rampantly as one almost gave me a heart attack the first night! The dogs are well rested and ready to perform. Last night I pulled into the college campus where the Van Nostrand Theater is located. I’m parked in a great location right outside the loading dock. There is plenty of grass for the dogs to run, potty, and play. If only the weather was nicer!

Samantha Valle the hometown star!

The show is scheduled for 3:00pm today at the Van Nostrand Theater in Brentwood, NY. Last night, I was walking around in the lobby and I happen to pass by the ticket booth. To my surprise the sign on the window said, “SOLD OUT”!  That’s right everyone, the “Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show” has sold out the entire theater for our solo performance. This one hour production is going to have a packed house and I’m ready to show these Long Island folks what a real stunt dog show is all about. Samantha Valle from Islip Terrace and Usman Raiz from Huntington and are also among the team!  They are both very excited to perform locally for all their family and friends.  Rehearsal went great last night and the dogs are ready to rock.

Our next stop is Keene, NH for a show sheduled on April 5th. I’ll then be headed back to California to enjoy some beautiful spring sunshine!

Daredevil Dogs perform in Florida

The “Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show” appeared at the Mattie Kelly Performing Arts Center yesterday with unbelievable success! Our stunt dogs were labled Daredevil Dogs in the daily news. This was one of our best performances of the year.  Every cue was was absolutely perfect and the dogs performed flawlessly. Samantha Valle set the tone of the show with an extremely strong opening performance. She opened the show with two of her best Frisbee catching dogs. Sam combined the best tricks in the world with aerodynamic stunts that literally blew the Florida audience away. Our high-jump dogs got big air again with unprecedented jumps heights that impressed us all. The Amazing Tess our veteran jumper represented the yellow team against the red teams high jump star Flashy Ferrari. My newest high jumper Ferrari took the win breaking her high jump record for the pumped up crowd.

Sam and I had another Aerobie disc catching showdown. This time it was Rocket Ruiz vs. Flashy Ferrari. Both dogs showcased their speed and athletic ability catching flying discs on the stage. Each of us tossed ten discs out to our dogs, hoping to take home the best disc catching title. Sam and Ruiz started the challenge making 8 out of 10 catches, as the ladies in the audience cheered her on. After making sure Sam handed me all 10 of my discs, I  jumped out into the crowd and tossed out my 10 Superdiscs. Flashy Ferrari was on fire! She unbelievably caught every single one, while showcasing the biggest air possible.

Sam’s newest puppy, “Spitfire Spinelli” made her first show appearance in yesterdays production. Spinelli is now a superstar! She pulled off some of the cutest tricks such as: limping on cue, circling backwards around the legs, and the miniture foot stall.

The racing dogs were Dynamite, Super Freak, and Super Sonic. All three didn’t miss a beat while setting new course records in the triathlon. They also tore it up in our 32 weave pole challenge. Our “daredevil dogs” put on an incredible show! We are going to relax and rest up today; then make our way up north tomorrow. Our next production is scheduled in Brentwood, NY on March 28th. Long Island here we come!

Stunt dogs have arrived in Niceville, FL

March 20, 2009

032009_img_2177The dogs jumped out of the truck into a blast of Florida sunshine! Last night we finished our 900 mile trek from Tiffin, OH to Niceville, Florida. Our next performance will take place here on Saturday at the Mattie Kelly Performing Arts Center at the Northwest Florida State College.  We were exhausted last night from the long two and a half day drive. I checked Sam, Usman, and Julia into the nearby hotel last night. My RV is setup in a perfect location right behind the theater. There is plenty of grass for the dogs to run around and enjoy the sun. We were able to preview the theater last night upon arrival and it’s extremely impressive. It will be the largest theater we’ve performed in so far. We won’t have enough flooring to cover the entire stage and that is quite rare.

Today will be spent laying down the flooring, setting up the props, and going through a few rehearsals. I’m also told they are going to be holding a press conference during our rehearsal, in order to generate more interest to our cause. This should increase ticket sales as well!

Our show is scheduled tomorrow at 2:00pm. I’m told 600 seats have been sold so far! This is a really popular theater; the All American Rejects played here just two nights ago. The stunt dogs are ready to catch flying discs, break high-jump records, race nose-to-nose, and perform the most incredible tricks and stunts on the planet!
